Prevent Microbial and Biological Growths With Our UV Lights
The evaporator coil and blower cabinets are the perfect breeding ground for all kinds of microbial and biological growths. The best and most effective method to prevent these growths from starting to grow and spread throughout your AC system and ductwork is UV lights. There are two versions of UV that we offer at Millian Aire, standard and high output.
Standard UV light
A standard UV light is the option that we recommend for new systems or systems that have very light infestation that seems to be confined to one area. Standard UV is a prevention type of upgrade, it is not recommended for systems that already have an advanced case of microbial or biological growth. These light kits generally are rated at 45 to 55 micro-watts at the time of install.
High-Output UVC Light Kits
High-output UVC lights are the more powerful and more effective of the types of UV light kits we sell and install. We have a couple of different brands that we offer. Reme Halo and Solace Air are the two brands we use most often.
As a primary recommendation, we generally use Solace Air as our primary product of choice. Solace Air UVC lamps are rated at 180 micro-watts at time of install, that’s 3.3 times higher than the standard UV kits.
Air Purification Solutions For Our Hudson FL Residents
Indoor air quality is divided into three types of volatile organic compounds (VOC’s).
- Particles and allergens – Dust, skin flakes, smoke, pet dander, dust mite feces, pollen, etc.
- Germs and infectious agents – Viruses, bacteria, mold, flu virus, microbial growth, biological growth, etc.
- Chemical gasses and odors – Cleaning supplies, pesticides, building materials, formaldehyde, benzene, etc.
Millian Aire AC & Heating offers solutions to remedy all of your IAQ issues. We are your one-stop shop to help you breathe freely in your own home. It is a high priority at Millian Aire to keep you and your family healthy and happy.
Oxidation Units – Solution for Stage 3 VOC Protection
Oxidation units are designed to eliminate odors and gasses that build up inside your home. Most common contributors to your home’s odors and poor indoor air quality are cooking fumes, cleaning chemicals and candles.
As your AC system recycles the same air over and over again, it continues to grab the different volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) in the air. Most of them are simple compounds that can be eliminated by increasing the oxygen in the air. Oxidation is generally odor-free and neutralizes the exiting smells without creating new VOC’s like candles, incense or oil burners tend to do.
Filtration – Solution for Stage 1 VOC Protection
There are many types of filtration on the market, including woven fiberglass, pleated, static electricity, air cleaners and electronic air cleaners. They all fall into three categories:
Every home is a little different and some require more aggressive filtration methods. Millian Aire offers all types of filters and air cleaners to suit your home’s clean air needs.
Standard Filtration – Woven Fiberglass Filters and Pleated Filters
These filters are the first stage of filtration, and some homes only require this type of filtration. It is the least expensive and also the least effective. We recommend that if you can hold your filter up and see through it, you may want to upgrade your filtration option. Pleated filters are the preferred filter of these two options.
Air Cleaners
This filtration option is a step up from standard, it generally requires an air handler to be uninstalled and reinstalled on top of a 5-inch filter rack. Millian Aire recommends that if this is the option you go with, you do so when you have a new AC unit installed to help curb some of the cost.
Electronic Air Cleaners
We proudly offer the Solace Air brand for electronic air cleaners. These give you the best protection while reducing the cost of installation most other brands have due to only being 1 inch as opposed to 5 inches. Solace Aire Electronic Cleaners are custom-made to fit your A/C system, giving you the cleanest air possible.
Duct Sealing Helps To Keep Pollutants Out Of Your Ductwork
Duct Leaking
The U.S. Department of Energy estimates that 95% of all homes in the United States have leaky ductwork. In fact, the Department of Energy estimates that about 25 to 40 percent of the air that moves through the duct system is lost due to leaks, holes and poorly connected ducts. That duct leakage leads to higher utility bills and difficulty in keeping the house comfortable.
Air Quality
Leaky ducts in your home can lead to your system pulling in, and recirculating air from your attic, crawlspace, or behind your walls. This air that your system is pulling in from these places can be full of contaminants, allergens, and dust. By sealing your ductwork, you can increase the air quality in your home and reduce dust build-up, and allergies.
Look in your attic and think if you want to be circulating that air within your home all day and night. The answer is more than likely no.
Mold Around Vents: Causes and Prevention
Noticing black or green mold spots forming around your air vents? It’s a common problem in humid climates like Florida, and it’s often a sign of leaky ducts or gaps in the ceiling where the vent meets the drywall.
Here’s why it happens:
- Warm air from your attic seeps through gaps around the vent.
- That warm, humid air meets the cold air coming from your HVAC system.
- Condensation forms on the vent edges, creating the perfect environment for mold growth.
If left unchecked, this mold can cause musty odors, allergy symptoms, and poor indoor air quality. Cleaning the mold is a temporary fix, but the root cause — the gaps and leaks in your ductwork — needs to be addressed to stop it from coming back.
How Aeroseal Prevents Mold Around Vents
There’s a permanent solution to prevent mold growth around your vents: Aeroseal duct sealing.
Here’s how Aeroseal works:
- Seals Gaps and Leaks — Aeroseal seals leaks in your duct system, stopping warm attic air from entering your ducts and preventing condensation.
- Reduces Condensation — By eliminating air leaks, Aeroseal stops moisture buildup that leads to mold growth.
- Improves Indoor Air Quality — Leaky ducts pull in contaminants like dust, pollen, and mold spores. Aeroseal reduces these contaminants, keeping your air clean and healthy.
- Boosts Energy Efficiency — Sealing your ducts can also lower your energy bills by ensuring your HVAC system runs efficiently without air loss.
Signs You May Have Leaky Ducts
Wondering if leaky ducts are causing mold around your vents? Here are some common signs to look for:
- Mold or moisture around air vents
- Uneven cooling or heating in your home
- High energy bills
- Dust buildup despite regular cleaning
- Musty odors coming from your HVAC system
Don’t let mold around your vents harm your indoor air quality or cause health issues for your family.
At Millian Aire, we offer Aeroseal duct sealing services to help you stop mold, improve your air quality, and save money on energy bills.
Increase Air Quality With Our Hudson Duct Cleaning Services
Ductwork is what carries the air from your air conditioner in and out of your home. This system, in theory, should be closed, nothing should be entering or leaving it. However, that is not what happens in practice. Whether it is from dirty filters, leaking ducts or age, ductwork eventually gets a build-up of dust and/or organic materials.
Duct cleaning is a good way to remove this build-up and increase air quality. However, it is not a solution to the problem, but rather, a band-aid. Once the duct cleaning has been completed, you should look at the root cause of the problem and work on fixing that. Whether it be sealing your ducts, adding a UV Light, or switching your filters, you will want to fix the cause.
